City Community Church, Exeter - Students

CCC and Students

‘The purpose of CCC Students is to make life-long disciples of Christ who are madly in love with God and other people’

It is our intention to see students demonstrate their love for God through obedience to His Word and growing to become more like Jesus. Also it is our passion to see students living out their love for God and people through sacrificial service, using their gifts in serving others and in being witnesses for Christ

What CCC has meant to Amy

"I moved to Exeter from Bristol, where I had been a part of a church since I was little and had become quite involved in the last few years. I was worried that when I moved I wouldn't find a church that I would feel settled in, but from my first week at CCC I felt at home.  The people are so friendly and welcoming. I feel very supported, especially by the leaders; it really feels like they want to help me and to get to know me, which is great and has really helped me settle in Exeter!"

"Becoming a Christian at University, I was unaware of which church I should attend. After attending many churches in the Exeter area, none of which I felt I could be part of, I decided to visit CCC. From my first visit I instantly felt welcomed, by people who have become my friends. CCC is the church where I feel I belong, and hope to be part of for the foreseeable future."

"My search for a church in Exeter was over pretty quickly in my first year when I heard that CCC would not only offer me a lift to and from the meetings but a free lunch too. I had wondered how long it would take to settle in to a new church, but I think by week 2 I had been roped into playing on the worship team, helping with the kids and being involved with a bus project! And although I thought that my year abroad during my third year would be a year away from CCC I was proven wrong when I still received books through the post... clearly there was no escape! Seriously though, CCC has always welcomed me in, and found ways for me to be included in any way I want: after four years CCC has definately become my home away from home... thank you!"

The two years that I spent at CCC were absolutely invaluable to me, the support that such a warm and exciting community can help in supporting a faith through times of turmoil and distraction while away from your home friends and peers is the most amazing thing that I could have expected!

"As soon as I walked in the door for the first time I was greeted with sincerity and friendship and ever since I have felt welcomed into a family as a valued brother. CCC is a place where I can be honest and grow because we are all growing. Where I can worship and learn. And where I can give something back."

"The moment I stepped into CCC I let out a sigh of relief. I had found a church where the people were deeply open with each other and keen to accept newcomers. Coming from a Christian community in North Devon, I longed to find in Exeter, that same sense of ease and honesty between Christians of all different walks of life. God surprised me with CCC. He shattered my illusions of stuffy churches where the leadership are not open to change or people wanting to try out their gifts. Instead, I found a church which is led remarkably humbly and passionately, a church where I didn't feel lost amongst a sea of students, but felt that I was expected to play my own small part and continue growing in my walk with Christ."

How can I boil down 6 years into a few sentences! Wow- what a privilege to have been part of CCC!

I arrived as a fresh faced fresher eager to find a church family consisting of more than just students. CCC had that wonderful mix of passion for Jesus, openness and closeness of family and desire to serve the community.

Over the last 6 years I’ve made some wonderful friends, grown hugely in my faith, been challenged, learnt to serve and experienced family. I’m gonna massively miss CCC but I know I’ll be back to visit on one of my bus adventures with Stagecoach!

"For me church is all about relationships, so one of the main highlights of being at CCC has been getting to know people and building on those friendships. I have also enjoyed getting involved in the worship band, and being part of a 'Cluster Group', which have both been a place for me to continue getting to know people better. I appreciate the down to earth and flexible approach that CCC has as a church."

"When i moved to Exeter four years ago i found it difficult to settle in a church, i spent the first two years attending various churches yet failing to really settle and feel at home in any. I was told about ccc by my Christian Union friends, so i decided to attend a few meetings and began to feel a sense of belonging. Therefore, ccc has been a place where i have found fellowship with other followers of Jesus Christ, and has given me the opportunity of being part of a body of believers during my final year at Exeter."

"It usually takes me a while to feel a part of a new church, but from the first week I attended CCC I felt at home. For me, CCC stands out for its loving and welcoming attitude.

The church's heart is for the lost and those in need. Because of that they are out in the community making a difference. Alongside this there is a great emphasis on caring for those already in the church.

During my time at CCC I have felt valued and loved, while also being challenged and encouraged to become more of the woman that God has created me to be."

"I became a christian at university, but never really felt a need to join a church. I had been to other churches in the area but never felt particularly drawn to any of them. One day a new flat mate of mine told me she had been to a great church called CCC. From the first day I could tell it was different. There is a great mix of people who all made it so easy for me to feel "at home" and who have shown me how vital it is as a christian to belong to a church! I've been given so many great opportunities through the church i.e. kids work, visiting China and being baptised, and hope and pray that these chances to work for God never end. I feel truly blesed to have found CCC, without whom my life would be totally different."
